About CEBU:

Cebu, island, central Philippines is the center of Visayan-Cebuano culture, and it has maintained a robust Spanish heritage in its own cultural life. Attracted by the island’s focal point, the Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan landed there and transformed the ruler and chiefs into Christianity. He was murdered on nearby Mactan Island. There are many relics of this case in Cebu City.
Cebu is the most significant island in the Visayas area and is full of Spanish colonial history. The first capital of the Philippines before the 17th century,’ the Queen of the South’ comprises six big cities — Cebu, Danao, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Toledo, and Talisay. To this day, Cebu Island remains a prominent and popular archipelago area, boasting the most ethnically varied population. Its inhabitants are an intriguing bunch, composed of Malay, Chinese, Filipino, and an ever-growing amount of westerners. It is now regarded as the Philippines’ most energetic island, bringing native and global tourists in droves. Cebu’s island is 122 miles (196 km) long; nowhere does this surpass 20 miles (32 kilometers ) in diameter. The surrounding seas are the Visayan Sea (northwest ), Tanon Strait (west), Bohol Strait (southeast), and Camotes Sea (east). Bisected by various low volcanic mountains, the island has minimal level land except for its Bogo Plain from the far northwest, primarily a commercial sugarcane region. There are just a few harbors, along with the payoff pattern is only one of many small agricultural villages that grow various crops like corn, coconuts, yams, and tobacco. Cebu, sadly, suffers from both overpopulation and soil depletion. There was extensive lumber cutting to construct Spanish galleons on the historical sea route between Manila and Acapulco (Mexico). The property was further diminished by the erosive forces of this island’s brief, swift rivers and from low agricultural techniques. Central Cebu National Park (1937), surrounding a triangular region (15,394 hectares) involving Balamban, Toledo, and Cebu City, represents the sole remaining forest on the island. The island also includes a bird and game refuge.
