Boracay Travel Requirements Update: Negative RT-PCR Test Now Required for All Visitors to Boracay and Aklan Province

Boracay Travel Requirements Update, January 5, 2022: In an effort to contain the spread of the coronavirus, especially the COVID-19 Omicron variant, Boracay Island is again requiring a negative RT-PCR test for all visitors. The Aklan local government unit, through executive order No. 001 series of 2022, has released a statement saying that all international and local tourists will again be required to have the test before being allowed to enter the island.

The order will become effective January 9, 2022. The executive order lists the following mandates:

  • For all travelers heading to Boracay or other areas in Aklan Province, regardless of vaccination status, a negative RT-PCR test result done within 72 hours before departure is now required to be allowed in the island.
  • All travelers who wish to visit Boracay must arrive at Caticlan Airport.
  • Landing at Kalibo Airport will no longer be an option for visitors going to Boracay.
