Cebu Pac Philippine Airlines Update (May 6, 2020)
Flag-carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) and low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific (Cebu Pac) ramp up preparatory efforts for the eventual resumption of commercial flights. These preparation involve a slew of safety measures of both Cebu Pac Philippine Airlines in preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus in boarding processes and during flights.
Cebu Air, Inc. operated Cebu Pac disclosed that all its crew, including pilots and flight attendants, will undergo rapid antibody testing before being allowed to fly. All working teams like ground and boarding staff will have to put on personal protective equipment or PPE while on the job.
The budget carried explained that “Cleaning and disinfection procedures have been ramped-up for all Cebu Pacific facilities and equipment such as self-check-in, self-service kiosks, checking-in, bag-drop counters, and shuttle vehicles. Hand sanitizers like disinfecting alcohol will be provided for all passengers and staff at the airport and inside the aircraft.”
It continued that all Cebu Pac aircraft will be undergoing extensive daily disinfection. Passengers, on the other hand, will have to wear protective gear like face masks before entering the airport and during the whole duration of the flight.
Once it resumes commercial operations, Cebu Pacific will initially restart with a limited number of flights domestically.
Developing news: Cebu Pacific flights remain canceled from May 16 to 31, 2020 due to extension of ECQ over Metro Manila
PAL Holdings, Inc.-operated Philippine Airlines requires all its passengers to be at the airport at least four hours before international departures and three hours before departure for domestic flights to various points in the country.
PAL disclosed that “Due to the Philippine government’s extension of the Luzon island-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period, all PAL domestic and international flights are canceled up to May 15.” It is continuing to operate all-cargo flights carrying essential supplies like medicines and equipment from various Asia-Pacific countries to the country. But it was reported that PAL is slowly introducing health protocols to ensure passenger safety once commercial operations resume by May 16.
It should be noted that the government imposed a temporary ban on Cebu Pac Philippine Airlines’ international inbound flights, which started on May 3 to last until May 8, 11:59 p.m. However, for the impending lifting of the ECQ, the Manila Airport Authority is implementing various health measures in preparation for commercial operations soon.
