Surigao, formerly known as Banahao, is located at the northern head of Mindanao near the Bilan-Bilan port. Beside it is the body where the greatest naval battle in history, “The Battle of Surigao Strait” took place, in which the US fleet clashed with the Imperial Japanese fleet. Sea lovers are sure to enjoy Surigao with its plentiful choices of beaches such as, Mabua Beach, Sabang Beach, and Punta Bilar Beach.
