Philippine Airlines to offer Cebu to Baguio City Flights by December 16, 2022
Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced recently that it will launch Cebu to Baguio City flights beginning December 16, 2022.
The national flag carrier said that the airline will operate flights between the two tourist hotspots four days a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The Baguio to Cebu and Cebu to Baguio flights are the latest addition to PAL’s growing network of domestic flights from Cebu.
“We are happy to be flying back to the very first destination we served nearly 82 years ago,” said PAL President and COO Capt. Stanley Ng. “This will be our comeback, so it holds a special place in our hearts.” On March 15, 1941, the Philippine Airlines Manila-Baguio flight signaled the beginning of the aviation age for the Philippines and Asia.
“At the same time, we’re launching a new service connecting two progressive tourist and business destinations: the Queen City of the South and the City of Pines,” he added.
Baguio City is known as the ‘Summer Capital of the Philippines’! With its year-round cool climate and breathtaking location 1,400 meters above sea level, Baguio is the ideal destination for a summer holiday. But Baguio isn’t all about tourism – it’s also a thriving business hub that hosts the Baguio City Economic Zone.
Philippine Airlines Cebu to Baguio City Flights and Baguio to Cebu Flights Schedule
From December 16, PAL’s Cebu to Baguio City flights and Baguio to Cebu flights will operate four times weekly with convenient morning departures, as follows:
- PR 2230 Cebu to Baguio City Flight – every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday – departing Mactan Cebu at 8:50 a.m. and arriving at Baguio Loakan Airport at 10:50 a.m.
- PR 2231 Baguio to Cebu Flight – every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday – departing at Baguio at 11:10 a.m., arriving in Cebu at 1 p.m.
Adding Baguio City to PAL’s domestic flights from Cebu expands the airline’s reach. The hub in Cebus already offers several internal flights and a few external destinations in Japan.
The Department of Tourism stated that PAL’s new route would introduce Baguio to the international market and create opportunities for new jobs and investments due to its connection with Cebu.
Regarding the new Cebu City-Baguio City route that PAL would take, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said, “This will provide many opportunities for closer interaction between two of our most well-known tourist destinations.”
She added that this new route will, without question, increase arrivals, inspire economic activities in the Cordilleras, and create a demand for investment and employment opportunities for Filipinos.
The officer-in-charge of PAL Express, Rabbi Ang, said the flight will also open up other areas in Northern Luzon. “With our direct flights, passengers from Central Visayas can now enjoy a two-hour journey to Northern Luzon and vice versa,” Ang continued on to say.
The Cebu to Baguio flights will be operated using a De Havilland Dash 8 Series 400 Next Generation aircraft. This plane can accommodate up to 78 passengers in a two-class configuration, with 12 seats in business class and 66 in the economy.
PAL is the first and only airline to offer direct flights between Cebu and Baguio. With this new route, the airline aims to provide passengers with more convenient travel options and boost tourism in both destinations.
