COVID Bangkok Travel Requirements for Arriving passengers from the Philippines: This is the updated advisory for traveling passengers arriving in Bangkok. This is sourced from Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific COVID travel advisories.

As you plan your dream vacation to Bangkok and other exotic destinations in Thailand, there are a few things you’ll need to take into consideration. In this article, we will outline the Bangkok Travel Requirements for foreigners and provide information on the COVID restrictions that are currently in place. Here is a checklist of what you’ll need to do in order to make your trip go as smoothly as possible.

Updated Bangkok Travel Requirements

Covid Bangkok Travel Requirements per Philippine Airlines Advisory

Allowed Travelers

  • Fully vaccinated Thai nationals and non-Thai nationals
  • Unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated Thai nationals and non-Thai nationals 
  • Tourists
  • Transit travelers who will be traveling outside Thailand
    • Transit travelers are only allowed to stay in Thailand for a maximum of twenty-four (24) hours

Bangkok Travel Requirements: Medical Documents

  • Recognized Proof of Vaccination (Certificate of Vaccination) 
    • Aged below 12: Can travel alone if fully vaccinated at least 14 days before travel. If not fully vaccinated, must travel with parents 
    • Aged 12-17: Can travel alone or vaccinated with at least 1 dose of COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days before travel. If unvaccinated must travel with their parents.  
    • Aged 18 and over: Must be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before travel.  
  • Individuals who have previously been infected with COVID-19 must present a Recovery Certificate certifying that the first date of detection is a least 14 days but no more than 3 months from departure date and that they have fully recovered (for cases where test results turn out positive).  

Bangkok Travel Requirements: Travel Documents

  • Thailand Pass Registration (must be valid within seven (7) days prior to departure)
    • EXEMPTION: Thai passport holders are no longer required to register on Thailand Pass and may travel to Thailand without having to undergo quarantine or COVID-19 tests. However, it is advised that Thai nationals should bring their certificate of vaccination (paper or digital form) or COVID-19 test result (if any).
    • Travelers who cannot present Thailand Pass are subject to a TBH20-40,000 fine. 
    • Unvaccinated Travelers must attach a Negative RT-PCR Test result valid within seventy-two (72) hours on the Thailand Pass application
    • Unvaccinated Travelers who cannot present a Negative RT-PCR Test result valid within seventy-two (72) hours on the Thailand Pass application must attach Alternative Quarantine (AQ) hotel confirmation for 5 days (including 1 RT-PCR test) and undergo an RT-PCR test on Day 4 – 5 in Thailand during the mandatory 5-day quarantine at AQ hotel
    • New Thailand Pass QR Codes from May 01, 2022, will be:
      • No Quarantine (Green Color) for travelers who are fully vaccinated according to Thailand Pass as “Arrival Date”
      • No Quarantine with RT-PCR (Orange Color) for travelers who are not vaccinated or have incomplete doses of vaccination but upload negative RT-PCR when applying to the Thailand Pass-through Thailand Pass website.
      • Quarantine (Red Color) for travelers with no vaccination and no RT-PCR test. The valid date is indicated on Thailand Pass as “Arrival Date”
  • Medical insurance which covers treatment and medical expenses in relation to COVID-19, with a minimum coverage of USD10,000 (for non-Thai nationals only) 
    • Transit Travelers must also comply with this requirement 

Bangkok Travel Requirements: Quarantine Requirements

For Unvaccinated Travellers
(Option 1 – Exemption from quarantine) Travelers with a negative RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours before traveling must: 

  • Register at Thailand Pass https://tp.consular.go.th/  
  • COVID-19 RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours before traveling (must attach on Thailand Pass only)  
  • COVID19 Insurance with minimum coverage of USD10,000  


(Option 2 – Quarantine) Travelers who cannot undergo an RT-PCR test result within 72 hours before traveling or wish to be quarantined must: 

  • Register at Thailand Pass https://tp.consular.go.th/
  • Alternative Quarantine (AQ) hotel confirmation for 5 days (including 1 RT-PCR test)  
  • COVID19 Insurance with minimum coverage of USD10,000  Undergo an RT-PCR test on Day 4 – 5 in Thailand during the mandatory 5-day quarantine AQ hotel

Guests traveling from the Philippines to Bangkok are to follow these steps for entry:

Step 1: Register for your Thailand Pass here.

Please take note of the quarantine guidelines, based on the Thailand Pass:

  • Green = No Quarantine for fully vaccinated guests, based on the standards of Thailand’s Ministry of Health (MOH).
  • Orange = No Quarantine, but a negative RT-PCR is required to apply for a Thailand Pass, for unvaccinated and partially vaccinated guests.
  • Red = Quarantine is required for unvaccinated / partially vaccinated guests without a negative RT-PCR test.

Step 2: Prepare the required documents:

Bangkok Travel Requirements for fully vaccinated guests

  • Passport
  • Certificate of Vaccination
  • COVID-19 Insurance with a minimum coverage of 10,000 USD (not required for Thailand Nationals)

Bangkok Travel Requirements for Unvaccinated / Partially Vaccinated Guests who will NOT Quarantine

  • Passport
  • A Negative RT-PCR test result, issued within 72 hours before departure (this must also be uploaded in Thailand Pass)
  • COVID-19 Insurance with a minimum coverage of 10,000 USD (not required for Thailand Nationals)

Bangkok Travel Requirements for unvaccinated / partially vaccinated guests who will quarantine

  • Passport
  • Alternative Quarantine (AQ) Hotel Confirmation for five (5) days (should include an RT-PCR test and Airport Transfer)
  • COVID-19 Insurance with a minimum coverage of 10,000 USD (not required for Thailand Nationals)
  • Undergo an RT-PCR test on days 4-5 of quarantine

Guidelines for guests traveling with unvaccinated children

Children below six (6) years old:

  • Must travel with parents only
  • Vaccination and RT-PCR test are not required
  • COVID-19 Saliva Test upon arrival

Children from 6 to 11 years old:

  • Must travel with parents only
  • Vaccination is not required
  • Must present a negative RT-PCR test result pre-departure

Children from 12 to 17 years old:

  • Must present a negative RT-PCR test result pre-departure
  • Must travel with parents if not fully vaccinated
